MORE THAN A RACe
why this challenge matters
Rowing across an ocean is a test of resilience, endurance, and teamwork. But for us, it’s about more than reaching the finish line—it’s about raising awareness and funds for causes that change lives.
The Charities We Champion
-
Chosen by Grant, The Grand Appeal is the official charity of Bristol Children’s Hospital, dedicated to saving lives and supporting families. They provide critical medical research, equipment, therapy programs, and family accommodation to ensure every child receives the best possible care, 365 days a year.
Since 2010, their Cots for Tots initiative has raised funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital. The hospital treats over 100,000 children annually, covering the largest geographic area of any children’s hospital in England.
From rare genetic disorders to cancer and traumatic injuries, The Grand Appeal helps deliver specialist care for babies, children, and young adults across the South West and South Wales.
-
Chosen by Tom, The Marine Conservation Society is an environmental charity dedicated to protecting and restoring the health of our oceans. Through scientific research, advocacy, education, and community action, they work to create cleaner, healthier, and better-protected seas for everyone.
The health of our oceans is vital, and Give Us A Wave is committed to raising awareness and funds to support marine conservation, wildlife protection, and tackling the climate crisis. By rowing the Atlantic, the team is shining a spotlight on the urgent need for ocean preservation.
-
Chosen by Tim, the Exeter Chiefs Foundation is a charity dedicated to helping other charities and community projects in and around Exeter. Their focus is on tangible investments, funding initiatives such as building renovations, play equipment, IT suites, vehicles, and accessibility improvements.
Founded by Exeter Rugby Club Chairman Tony Rowe CBE, the Foundation has raised close to £3 million, supporting over 150 charities and projects over the past 11 years.
By rowing the Atlantic, Give Us A Wave aims to raise funds to support local charities and strengthen communities.
-
Chosen by Rhys, ANDYSMANCLUB is a nationwide charity dedicated to eliminating the stigma around men’s mental health. They provide free, confidential, peer-to-peer support groups for men over 18, offering a safe space to open up and seek help.
Founded in memory of Andrew Roberts, who tragically took his own life at 23, the charity was created to address the alarming reality that suicide is the leading cause of death in men under 50.
This cause is deeply personal to Rhys, having lost a close friend to suicide. His journey across the Atlantic is driven by a mission to raise awareness, start conversations, and make a real difference for men struggling in silence.
